Mer-Krete™ Thin-Set 801
SELF CURING RAPID SET MORTAR

DESCRIPTION:
Mer-Krete Thin-Set 801 is a proprietary polymer modified mortar designed to cure without the need for normal evaporation. Mer-Krete 801 is an advanced thin-set engineered specifically for use with all vitreous materials installed over low or non-absorptive subfloors and walls. This mortar meets the strict requirements of ANSI A-118.4 requirements while ensuring a full cure between two impervious surfaces.

USE:
Mer-Krete Thin-Set 801 is used for installations of ceramic tile, quarry tile, porcelain and stone. Thin-Set 801 allows grouting in 2-4 hours and light traffic within 4 hours.

ADVANTAGES:
• Fast setting – allows same day grouting.
• Ensures proper curing for hard-to-bond materials.
• Adheres to all common sound substrates.
• Non-shrinking and non-staining.
• Non-toxic and non-flammable.
• Water resistant – will not bleed.
• Meets ANSI A-118.1 requirements.

SPECIAL NOTE:
Mer-Krete Thin-Set 801 is a new hybrid formulation developed for use in installations of non-porous tiles over sound mats, waterproof and crack isolation membranes as well as any other non-absorptive surfaces. Unlike regular thin-sets, all the water is hydrated within the Thin-Set 801 system rather than requiring evaporation. Thin-Set 801 is warranted to adhere to all substrates designed for ceramic, porcelain and stone tiles.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
No sealers, curing compounds or coatings shall be used on the substrate. Surfaces shall be left clean. Any contaminants shall be removed prior to application. Spread only as much mortar as can be covered in 30 minutes. Dusty or dry concrete surfaces should be washed with clean water just prior to commencing work and left uniformly damp (no standing water). Pot life is 90 minutes with open time of 30 minutes @ 70°F and 50% R.H. Patching, leveling or areas requiring a mortar bed should be prepared using Mer-Krete Underlayments.

I NSTALLATION:
Work should be performed only by a trained applicator and in strict accordance with ANSI A-118.5 methods and manufacturer application specifications, abbreviated below: The amount of water used will depend on the temperature and humidity. Higher temperatures and drier humidities will require slightly more water to reach optimum spreading consistency. Approximately 1 3/4 gallons of water will wet out one 50 lb. sack of Thin-Set 801. In high temperatures (over 90°F), the use of cool water will extend open time and pot life.
• Expansion joints shall be spaced per current TCA manual and shall be installed
against all restraining surfaces. Consult current TCA manual for expansion joint recommendations.
• Grout or point all joints using prepared grout with enough 150 Acrylic Latex to bring the
mix to a workable consistency.
