Mer-Krete™ 300
WATERPROOF MEMBRANE SYSTEM

DESCRIPTION:
300 Waterproof membrane is a latex modified, fabric reinforced system formulated and prepackaged at the factory. Formulated with special latex compounds.

USE:
This membrane provides positive waterproofing for above grade, interior thin-set applications of ceramic, quarry, stone tile and vinyl.* The membrane has an approximate thickness of 1/8", and therefore does not interfere with existing elevations or doorways.

ADVANTAGES:
• Quickly installed. Cures in 24 hours allowing next day overlay.
• Completely waterproof with zero porosity.
• Should be turned up for base flashing and applied to walls for wainscot or shower wall application.
• Thin section – does not interfere with elevations.
• Will not burn – fire retardant
• May be installed over a slip sheet for heavier section toppings (i.e. concrete, Portland Terrazzo, etc.).

LIMITATIONS:
• Will not bridge substrate expansion joints without developing hairline checks. Consult a Mer-Krete technical representative for required special treatment.
• Wood subsurfaces must be adequately blocked at joints. Joints that are open more than 1/16" must be filled with suitable underlayment prior to the application of the membrane.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
When covering existing slabs or uneven surfaces, the use of Underlayment is recommended as a smoothing coat or to provide required pitch.
Existing expansion joints should be maintained through the overlay and treated in a manner so as not to interfere with the existing joints.
On new construction, attention to the details and elevations of drains, floor sinks, equipment mountings and clean-outs is essential to the ultimate success of the floor overlay.
The use of a latex modified mortar (ANSI A-118.4) or acrylic admix such as Mer-Krete 150 Acrylic Latex is highly recommended for setting all ceramic and stone tiles to ensure compatibility.

INSTALLATION:
Work should be performed only by an applicator trained and familiar with these products, and in strict accordance with manufacturer application specifications, abbreviated below:
1. Prepare and clean surface to be waterproofed.
2. Blend membrane materials and prime all base flashings and perimeter areas.
3. Install fabric and latex mix to cover drains and other detail areas.
4. Install fabric into a wet coat of the mixed material followed by an additional coat.
5. A final coat of the mix will usually be required to completely fill and seal the surface.

AVAILABILITY:
Mer-Krete Systems are installed by trained contractors located throughout the U.S.

*Reinforcing fabric may be omitted on installation under vinyl.
