Mer-Krete™ HydroGuard One
ELASTOMERIC WATERPROOFING /
ANTIFRACTURE MEMBRANE

Hydro-Guard ONE

DESCRIPTION:
Hydro-Guard One is a thin, load bearing membrane composed of a modified elastomeric copolymer. With excellent elongation properties and high strength, HydroGuard One provides a 100% waterproof membrane coating while limiting the transfer of substrate cracks to the finished overlay. The membrane is installed in a liquid state and can be applied to practically any form or irregular shape (i.e. base flashings, parapets, walls, etc.).

USE:
Hydro-Guard One is for use in commercial buildings, residential housing and other areas requiring positive waterproofing under thin-set ceramic, terrazzo, quarry and stone tile. This membrane can be installed over any sound subsurface interior and exterior.

ADVANTAGES:
• Installs quickly. Cures in 2-4 hours (70°F, 50% R.H). Contact manufacturer for further information.
• Completely waterproof with zero porosity.
• Adheres to all common surfaces.
• May be turned up for base flashing and applied to walls for wainscot or shower wall application.
• Thin section that does not interfere with elevations.

LIMITATIONS:
• Will not bridge substrate expansion joints. Consult a Mer-Krete technical representative for required special treatment.
• Wood subsurfaces must be adequately blocked at joints. Joints that are open more than 1/16" must be filled with suitable underlayment prior to the application of the membrane. Consult manufacturer for specific applications.
• For commercial steam room and sauna installations, use Hydro-Guard 2000 Membrane System.

CONSIDERATIONS FOR INSTALLATION:
• When covering existing slabs or uneven surfaces, the use of Mer-Krete Underlayment is recommended as a smoothing coat or to provide required pitch.
• For wood subsurfaces, consult the current TCA manual for specific requirements for ceramic tile
and stone installations.
• The use of a latex modified mortar (ANSI A-118.4) or acrylic admix such as Mer-Krete Latex 200 is highly recommended for setting all ceramic and stone tiles to ensure compatibility.
• Surfaces to be coated must be clean and free of contaminants. Sealers, curing compounds and all protrusions must be removed prior to application.
• Allow a minimum of 48 hours to dry before flooding.
(
Drying Time: 48 Hours minimum at 70 degrees F and 50% relative humidity)

INSTALLATION:
Work should be performed only by an applicator trained and familiar with these products, and in strict accordance with manufacturer application specifications, abbreviated below:
1. Prepare and clean surface to be waterproofed. The surface must be dry and free of all curing compounds, oils or other contaminents.
2. Apply HydroGuard One by brush, roller or trowel and allow to dry.
3. When positive waterproofing is required, an additional coat of mastic should be applied after the membrane has dried to the touch to ensure that any pinholes are completely filled.

NOTE: The use of fabric reinforcement at the floor to wall juncture and on drain assemblies is recommended. The fabric should be “sandwiched” between coats of HydroGuard One mastic.
