Mer-Krete™ 150 Acrylic Latex
THIN-SET AND GROUT ADDITIVE

DESCRIPTION:
150 Latex is a compounded and stabilized latex additive to improve bond strength, water resistance, compressive strength and other physical properties of cement/sand mixes as well as grouts. These mixes may be applied from a feather edge up to the needed thickness. 150 Latex is also used in conjunction with Underlay-M filler to form thick bed mortars.

USE:
A liquid additive for thin-set, Portland cement mortar mixes for patching concrete, underlayments for resilient flooring, thick bed mortars, leveling beds for ceramic tile and terrazzo and other thin applications where bonding is difficult.

ADVANTAGES:
• Improved adhesion to both old and new surfaces.
• Helps reduces dusting, cracking and spalling of tile grout joints.
• Improved resilience for thermal movement.
• Improved chemical resistance of grout joints.
• Improved resistance to water infiltration.

LIMITATIONS:
• Must not freeze during application or cure.

AVAILABILITY:
Mer-Krete Systems are installed by trained contractors located in several population centers in the U.S.

CONSIDERATIONS FOR INSTALLATION:
• No sealers, curing compounds or coatings shall be used on substrate. Surfaces shall be left clean. Any contaminants shall be removed prior to application.
• When used as a grout additive, care must be taken to remove grout mix from tile face before curing since its adhesion makes removal difficult after cure.
• Sand should be incorporated into cement for joints over 1/8" wide.

INSTALLATION:
Work should be performed only by an applicator trained and familiar with these products, and must be installed in strict accordance with manufacturer’s application specifications, abbreviated below:
• In all cases, sand and cement should be dry mixed prior to adding 150 Latex.
• When used as an additive for underlayments 1/4" or more in thickness, use Portland cement and clean plaster sand in a ratio of 3 parts sand to 1 part cement. Use 150 Latex in place of water.
• For thinner applications (to a feather edge), substitute fine silica 30-130 mesh for plaster sand.
• Thin applications usually require 4-5 gallons of 150 Latex for each 100 lb sack of cement. Thick bed installations will require less liquid to make a trowelable mix. For these drier mixes, apply a wet slurry of 150 Latex and neat cement just prior to application to insure a good bond.
