Underlay-L
LATEX MASTIC UNDERLAYMMENT
DESCRIPTION:
This Underlayment-L system consists of a synthetic rubber emulsion
and a compatible aluminous cement filler mix. These components are
mixed together on the job and installed by trained mechanics to
provide a uniform monolithic subsurface that is to receive a finished
flooring.
USE:
A rubber mastic composition designed to underlay and provide an
acceptable surface for various floor coverings such as resilient
tile, carpet, ceramic or quarry tile and vinyl sheeting. Underlay-L
is also designed to provide slope where positive drainage is required.
ADVANTAGES:
• Easy to install.
• Excellent bond to concrete, wood and metal with a minimum
of preparation.
• Highly resilient.
• Crack resistant.
• Fire retardant.
• Good thermal and acoustical insulating properties.
• Trowels to a smooth and uniform finish.
• Helps reduce subgrade heads of water (hydrostatic pressure).
LIMITATIONS:
• Installations over 3/4" may require the addition
of large sand or rock. Consult manufacturer. • Powder should
not be exposed to moisture prior to application and liquid must
not be allowed to freeze.
CONSIDERATIONS
FOR INSTALLATION:
When covering wood sheathing, wire or expanded reinforcing metal
should be used. When Underlay-L is applied in thick section (over
1") additional time should be allowed for curing. Thick section
fills are normally installed with a drier mix to enhance workability.
In such cases, a wetting (“slurry”) coat MUST be applied
PRIOR to the application of the underlayment. Concrete should
be free of dirt and laitence. When used as thermal insulation
in conjunction with Mer-Ko Weather Deck, consult a Mer-Ko representative
for specifications.
